Sports Heart

A cardiac condition seen in people who engage in strenuous physical exercise for long periods of time, such as athletes. The heart becomes enlarged on both sides and appears spherical on a chest X-ray. The pulse rate often slows and the pulse pressure also becomes large. スポーツマンのように長期にわたり，激しい肉体運動を続ける人たちにみられる心臓の状態。心臓は左右に肥大し，胸部Ｘ線写真上，球形を呈する。脈拍はゆるやかになり，脈圧も大となることが多い。必ずしも病的な心肥大とはいえず，作業能率はかえって増加している。
