Squire
A social class in England. It refers to wealthy landowners who are lower in rank than knights and higher than mere gentlemen, and are allowed to use their family crest. They are the core of gentlemen in a broad sense, and the word "squirearchy" was used to refer to the landowner-ruled system from the early modern period to the early modern period.
