A temporary hut built in the early modern period to house poor victims of disasters such as famine, fire, and storm and flood damage. In urban societies where disaster victims were concentrated, food distribution huts such as rice porridge were often set up to replenish the hunger of the poor victims, and in the early modern period these were also called relief huts. However, relief huts, which managed the entire lives of the poor to prevent them from wandering around the city, and food distribution huts, which only provided temporary rice for meals, had different social functions, and in later years they became clearly differentiated.
