Jinju - Shinju

A city in the southwest of South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It has an area of ​​712.84 square kilometers and a population of 339,413 (2000). It was promoted to a city in 1949. In 1995, it was merged with Jinyang County. The Nam River flows from east to west. The city produces rice, tobacco, fruit, and other products, and its textile, machinery, and chemical industries are well developed. Jinju Castle (reconstructed) and the National Jinju Museum are located on the banks of the Nam River. It is also the gateway for tourists to Jirisan Mountain and Hallyeohaesang National Park. Gyeongsang University and Jinju University of Education are both located here.

韓国（大韓民国）、慶尚南道(けいしょうなんどう／キョンサンナムド)南西部にある都市。面積712.84平方キロメートル、人口33万9413（2000）。1949年、市に昇格。95年、晋陽郡と統合。南江が東から西へ流れる。米、タバコ、果物などを産し、繊維、機械、化学工業が発達している。南江の河畔には、晋州城（復元）や国立晋州博物館などがある。ほかに智異山や閑麗(かんれい)海上国立公園への観光の玄関口にもなっている。慶尚大学、晋州教育大学がある。
