Annamse Cordillera

Japanese: アンナン[山脈]（英語表記）Annamese Cordillera

A long mountain range in the northern part of the Indochina Peninsula, stretching from northern Laos to the southeast along the border with Vietnam, and then south along the Annam coast into southern Vietnam. It is also called the Truong Son Mountains. On small-scale maps it looks like a simple mountain range, but it is actually a collection of many complexly structured landmass-like mountain ranges. It can generally be divided into two parts: the northern part up to Da Nang, and the southern part south of that. In the northern part, high peaks such as Phu Bia (2,820m) in Laos and Phu Lai Lenh (2,711m) on the border rise, and around Da Nang the mountains approach the coast and the coastal plain almost disappears.

インドシナ半島の北部，ラオス北部より南東にベトナムとの国境をなしつつ延び，さらにアンナン海岸に沿い南下してベトナム南部にまで及ぶ長大な山脈。チュオンソンTruong Son山脈ともいう。小縮尺の地図では単純な山脈のように見えるが，実は多くの複雑な構造をもつ地塊状の山地の集合である。一般にダナン付近までを北部，それ以南を南部の二つに区分できよう。北部ではラオスのプー･ビア(2820m)，国境のプー･ライ･レン(2711m)などの高峰がそびえ，ダナン付近で山は海岸に迫り，海岸平野はほとんどなくなる。
