Sim Hun (English name)

Korean poet and writer. His real name was Shim Dae-seop. He was born in Seoul. He participated in the March 1st Independence Movement, was imprisoned, and later fled to Shanghai. He returned to Korea in 1923 and worked as a reporter for the Dong-A Ilbo and Chosun Ilbo while writing novels and poetry and making films. He was an early member of the Korean Proletarian Arts League (KKAPU). His main work is the novel "Evergreen Tree" (1935), set in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, which depicts the rural enlightenment movement (Bu-Narod Movement) of young people. His work "When That Day Comes," highly regarded as a poem of national resistance, was published after liberation.

朝鮮の詩人,作家。本名は沈大燮。ソウル生れ。三・一独立運動に参加,投獄され,のちに上海に亡命,1923年帰国し《東亜日報》《朝鮮日報》などの記者をしながら小説や詩を書き,映画製作も行う。初期のカップ(朝鮮プロレタリア芸術同盟)のメンバー。主著に忠清南道唐津を舞台に若者たちの農村啓蒙運動(ブ・ナロード運動)を描いた小説《常緑樹》(1935)がある。民族の抵抗の詩として高く評価される《その日が来れば》は,解放後に日の目を見ることができた。
