The basic form of a parabolic equation, which is a type of partial differential equation, is written as ∂u / ∂t ＝ c⊿u ＋ f ( t , x )……(1) ₍ t ＞0,⊿＝ ^∂2 _/∂x12 ＋ ……＋ ^∂2 / ∂xn2 ). Here, c is a positive constant and f is a known function. In physics, this equation describes the heat conduction or diffusion phenomenon of a substance, and the unknown function ^u ＝u ( ^t , x ) represents the temperature or concentration of the diffusing substance at time t and the point in space x ＝( x1 ,…… , xn ) _. Usually, the problem is to find a solution to equation (1 ₎ that satisfies the initial condition, u (0, _x )＝ u0 ( x )…… ( 2).
