Macon, Nathaniel
Born December 17, 1758 in Warren, North Carolina
[Died] June 29, 1837. Warren, North Carolina. American politician. After participating in the American Revolutionary War, he served as a North Carolina senator from 1781 to 1785. In 1787 he opposed the Constitutional Convention and its draft constitution, becoming an anti-federalist, and later a Republican. He served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1891 to 1813. He was Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1801 to 1807. Although his name is attached to the Macon Act No. 2, which was enacted on May 1, 1810, he was not one of the drafters. In 1812, he supported the declaration of war against Britain. He served as a U.S. senator from 1815 to 1828. He was thoroughly opposed to the establishment of the Second Bank of the United States, protective tariffs, inland development, and the like, and also defended slavery.

A city in central Georgia, USA. Located in the upper reaches of the Ocmulgee River. It developed after settlers from North Carolina settled along the Ocmulgee River in 1818. In the 1940s, it became a cotton market, and flourished as a waterfall city with cotton textiles. Today, it is a distribution center for cotton, grains, pulpwood, and peanuts. Its main industries are automobile parts, airplane parts, pharmaceuticals, and synthetic fibers. It is home to Wellesley College (founded in 1836) and Mercer University (33). It is the birthplace of poet and musician S. Rainier. Population 106,612 (1990).

アメリカ合衆国,ジョージア州の中央部にある都市。オクマルジー川の上流域に位置する。 1818年ノースカロライナからの移住者がオクマルジー川沿いに入植してから開発が進行。 40年代に綿花市場となり,滝線都市として綿織物で栄えた。現在は綿花,穀物,パルプ材,ナンキンマメの集散地。主要工業は自動車部品,飛行機部品,薬品,化学繊維。ウェルスレー女子大学 (1836創立) ,マーサー大学 (33) がある。詩人で音楽家の S.レーニアの生誕地。人口 10万 6612 (1990) 。
