Born: 1889 in Suzdal
[Died] October 19, 1939, Beijing. Russian anthropologist and ethnologist. After studying in France, he engaged in academic expeditions. He is famous for his research on the Tungus people during his Siberian expedition (1913-17). He fled to China after the Russian Revolution in Vladivostok. His main work is Social Organization of the Northern Tungus (33).
