A military commander in the late Heian period. The second son of Yoriyoshi, he was called Kamo Jiro. During the Battle of Zenkunen (1051-62), he followed his father in defeating Abe no Sadato, and was awarded the title of Saemon no Shojo (Second Lieutenant) for his achievements, and subsequently served as governor of Mutsu, Ise, Kai, and Shinano. In 1091 (Kanji 5), he became involved in a territorial dispute between Fujiwara no Sanekiyo and Kiyohara no Norikiyo, which led to a feud with his brother, Hachiman Taro Yoshiie, and the matter was referred to the nobles for review, with the title "the greatest turmoil in the world" (Hyakurensho). In 1109 (Tennin 2), he was accused of murdering Yoshiie's son Yoshitada, and was attacked by Tameyoshi, after which he became a monk and was exiled to Sado Island. He was later pardoned and returned to Kyoto, but in 1134 (Chōshō 3), he was reprimanded again and committed suicide.
