Titus Aurelius Fulvus Boionius Antoninus Pius

Japanese: アントニヌス・ピウス(英語表記)Titus Aurelius Fulvus Boionius Antoninus Pius
Titus Aurelius Fulvus Boionius Antoninus Pius
86‐161
Roman Emperor. Reigned 138-161. One of the Five Good Emperors. Born into a noble family near Rome, he rose steadily through the ranks and became a member of Hadrian's advisory group. In his later years he was given real power, and succeeded the previous emperor after his death. He persuaded the senate to worship Hadrian as a god, and was given the title "Pius (the pious)." He worked to strengthen government power, but cooperated with the senate, giving gifts to the people and establishing a scholarship system for poor children. He placed great importance on Rome and Italy, and never left Italy during his rule.
