A town in Chosei County in central Chiba Prefecture. Facing the Pacific Ocean, it occupies the southern part of the Kujukuri Plain. In the past, sardine fishing was popular. The town produces rice, tomatoes, green onions, peanuts, etc. Tourism development is thriving. Natural gas is extracted and factories are located here.
