French physicist. Born in Paris. Due to his family's financial difficulties following the death of his father, he entered the École Supérieure de Physique et de Chemistry de Paris (1920), which offered a tuition exemption, where he met his teacher P. Langevin, who had a profound influence on his academic research and the formation of his worldview. He initially aspired to become an engineer, but following Langevin's advice, he became M. Curie's special laboratory assistant at the Radium Institute in 1925. The following year, M. Curie married P.
