Jiyono
French novelist. Born in the south of France as the son of a poor shoemaker, he studied literature on his own and entered the literary world in 1929 with "The Hill". He portrayed the simple peasant life of Provence with a warm touch. His other works include "A Strong Soul", "The Battle in the Mountains" and "Song of the World".
