Japanese: 小葉植物 - しょうようしょくぶつ（英語表記）Microphyllophyta

Lycopsida (also called Lycopods) is a group of ferns (seedless vascular plants) with small-leafed leaves. There are five extant genera, including Lycopodium, Selaginella, and Cornus, and also includes the scale trees and reed trees that flourished in the Paleozoic era. Recent research has shown that plants with a single branched main axis, axial sporangia, and small leaves are derived from the Zosterophyllum group, a group of naked-stemmed plants, and that this group of plants has a different origin from other vascular plants with large-leafed leaves.

ヒカゲノカズラ類Lycopsida(英名lycopods)，石松（せきしよう）綱などともいう。シダ植物(無種子維管束植物)のうち，小葉性の葉をもった植物群で，現生にはヒカゲノカズラ属，イワヒバ属，ミズニラ属など5属があり，古生代に繁茂した鱗木（りんぼく）や蘆木（ろぼく）なども含まれる。最近の研究によれば，主軸が単軸分岐をし，軸生の胞子囊をつけ，小葉をもった植物は，裸茎植物の一群であるゾステロフィルム群から由来したものであり，この系統の植物群は大葉性の葉をもった他の維管束植物と異なった起源のものであることが示されている。
