Evaporating dish

A type of chemical laboratory equipment. A deep dish-shaped container with a round bottom and a spout used to heat and evaporate a solvent to concentrate a solution or evaporate it to dryness. They are available in glass, quartz, porcelain, and metal. They come in a variety of sizes, from small ones for trace amounts of samples to large ones with a capacity of several liters, and are used to heat slowly while avoiding boiling and to increase the surface area for evaporation of the liquid.

化学実験器具の一つ。溶媒を加熱蒸発させて溶液を濃縮し、あるいは蒸発乾固させるのに使われる丸底で注ぎ口のある深皿状容器。ガラス製、石英製、磁製、金属製のものがある。微量試料用の小形から、数リットル容量の大形のものまであり、沸騰を避けながらゆっくり加熱し、かつ液の蒸発面積が広くなるように使われる。
