Andalusian dog - Un Chien Andalou

Andalusian dog - Un Chien Andalou

A French film from 1928, produced by director Luis Bunuel, whose debut work was this, and painter Salvador Dali. It is a masterpiece of avant-garde film, which was actively attempted in response to art and literature during the heyday of the Surrealist movement. In the 16-minute running time, a shocking image is piled up, starting with an opening scene in which a woman's eyeball is slashed with a razor, a young woman poking her right palm, which has been severed and lying on the street, with a cane, a piano with a donkey's corpse on it and a man pulling it, and ants swarming on the palm of his hand. Based on the images that Bunuel and Dali each contributed to each other, the film ostensibly follows the entanglement of a man and woman's love, but in fact it excludes all rational development and meaning. It is a world that is just like a dream. It captures the emergence of irrational human impulses and drives.
