Shoji paper

Japanese:
Shoji paper
The base paper for shoji screens. It must be strong, transmit light well, be porous, allow good air circulation, and be resistant to discoloration. It is made from paper mulberry and chemical pulp, but in recent years, it has been produced in large quantities using chemical fibers as the main raw material. It is also produced in a single piece without any seams, but the width and length vary depending on the customs of each region, so in addition to the Hanshi size, there are many other sizes, such as Mino size, Shaku size, Izumo size, and Kagoshima size, as well as different lengths such as Honma size and Hazama size.
