Burial - Junso

Japanese:
Burial - Junso
An ancient custom in which, upon the death of a nobleman, he would have his attendants and maids killed and buried. This is particularly evident in the tomb of Menes (Narmer) of the First Dynasty of Egypt and the royal tombs of Ur of the Early Dynasty of Mesopotamia. In China, this is seen in the large Yin tomb in Wuguan Village, Anyang County, Henan Province, but the majority of these burials were performed with the dead, with some being performed with the head decapitated. In Japan, there are records in the Gishi Wajinden and Nihon Shoki that indicate the existence of the custom of burial with the dead, but there is no archaeological evidence to prove it.
