...The main production areas are Tabriz, Hamadan, Mashhad, Kerman, Isfahan, Kashan, and Qom, but production is throughout Iran, producing carpets with their own unique characteristics in each region. Caucasian carpets are known for their geometric, straight-line patterns, and human and animal motifs are also depicted in straight lines. Chinese carpets are called tanzu, which in Japan are called dantsu (narrowly speaking, carpets woven in a short square shape).
