Anglo‐Saxons

Japanese: アングロ・サクソン人 - アングロサクソンじん(英語表記)Anglo‐Saxons
Anglo‐Saxons
The ethnic group that forms the basis of today's British people. Racially, they belong to the northern branch of the Caucasian (white) race, and have physical characteristics such as tall stature, white skin, blue eyes, and blond hair. Linguistically, they belong to the Teutonic (Germanic) language family, a branch of the western branch of the Indo-European language family, and speak English that originated from Low German. They are a mixture of several tribes, including the Saxons, who originally lived in northwestern Germany, the Angles, who lived at the base of the Jutland Peninsula, and the Jutes, who inhabited the same peninsula. As part of the Great Migration of the Germanic peoples, they migrated from their native land to the island of Britannia in the 5th and 6th centuries, and either drove out or dominated the indigenous Britons, occupying what is now England (meaning "land of the Angles").
