Liberty Bell - Jiyu no Kane (English) Liberty Bell
This bell has historical significance as a symbol of freedom in the United States. It is on display at the Liberty Bell Center in the National Historical Park, located north of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was cast in England in 1751, shipped to America in August 1752, and hung in the bell tower of the Pennsylvania State House in June 1753. It weighs 943 kg, has a circumference of 3.7 m, and is about 1 m high. It is inscribed with a quote from Leviticus 25:10, which reads, "We claim liberty for all the inhabitants of the land." It is known as the bell that was rung when the Declaration of Independence was promulgated on July 4, 1776, but was actually rung on July 8. It is also known as the "Independence Bell" because it was rung to announce the conclusion of peace at the end of the American War of Independence on April 16, 1783.
