Ring-tailed lemur

It is a member of the mammalian class, primate order, lemur family. It is a prosimian found in the dry forests and sparse forests of the western and southern parts of Madagascar. Its head and body length is about 45 centimeters, and its tail is a little longer. Its fur is gray on the back and white on the belly, with alternating black and white ring patterns on its tail. It has sebaceous glands on its forelimbs and armpits, which it uses for marking. It can live in environments with relatively few trees, and of all the lemurs, it tends to be the most terrestrial and diurnal.

Japanese:

哺乳(ほにゅう)綱霊長目キツネザル科の動物。マダガスカル島の西部や南部の乾燥林と疎開林に分布する原猿である。頭胴長45センチメートル前後で、尾はそれよりすこし長い。体毛は背面が灰色で腹部は白く、尾に黒と白を交互に積み重ねたような輪模様がある。前肢や腋下(えきか)に皮脂腺(ひしせん)をもち、これでマーキング行動を行う。比較的樹木の少ない環境にもすみ、キツネザルのなかでは地上性と昼行性の傾向がもっとも強い。
