Siderostat - Siderostat (English spelling)

A type of device that always sends light from the sun and other celestial bodies that undergo diurnal motion in a fixed direction and guides it to observation equipment such as a spectrometer fixed on the ground. Through an ingenious design, it uses only one mirror to reflect the light from the celestial body horizontally, due south in the Northern Hemisphere. Unlike a coelostat, the image of the sun rotates over time. Also, unlike a heliostat, it can only extract light due south.

日周運動をする太陽や天体からの光をつねに一定の方向に送って、地上に固定した分光器などの観測装置に導く装置の一種。巧妙なくふうによって、1枚の鏡だけを使って天体からの光を北半球では水平、真南の方向に反射させる。シーロスタットと異なり太陽像は時間とともに回転する。またヘリオスタットと違う点は真南の方向にしか光を取り出せないことである。
