Japanese: サンショウクイ(山椒喰) - サンショウクイ

A general term for birds of the passerine family Campephagidae, or a single species of the family. The Campephagidae (caterpillar birds) are found mainly in South Asia, New Guinea, and Australia, and also in Africa, but are not found in the New World at all. There are about 70 species in nine genera, and they vary widely in length, ranging from 13 cm to 31 cm. They are broadly divided into two groups: the cuckoo-shrike and the minivet.

スズメ目サンショウクイ科の鳥の総称，またはそのうちの1種を指す。サンショウクイ科Campephagidae(英名caterpillar bird)は，南アジア，ニューギニア，オーストラリアを中心に分布し，アフリカにも生息するが，新世界にはまったくいない。9属約70種を含み，全長13cmから31cmと変異に富む。オオサンショウクイ(英名cuckoo‐shrike)とサンショウクイ(英名minivet)の2グループに大別される。
