Chinese government positions. Sansi means three types of government offices, so the positions it referred to changed over time. (1) The San Gong are called Sansi. The San Gong were the highest officials in the central government during the Han dynasty: the Chancellor (Situ), the Grand Marshal, and the Chief Censor (Sikong), and were often called Sansi. Those who were not San Gong but received the courtesy of the San Gong were called Iya Sansi, Bantong Sansi, and Yitong Sansi, and those of particularly high rank were called Kaifu Yitong Sansi. (2) During the Tang dynasty, the three judicial offices of the Ministry of Justice, the Censorship Office, and the Dali Temple were called Sansi.
