A language spoken by the San (also known as Bushmen) people of southern Africa in Angola, Botswana, Namibia, and parts of South Africa. It is part of the Khoi-San language family along with Khoi, Sandawe and Hatsapi (Hatsa) of Tanzania. It is divided into three groups, northern, central and southern, of which the central group has many similarities with Khoi, and so these two are lumped together as Khoi languages, while the remaining San languages are classified as San languages. A notable feature is the use of clicks as phonemes. It is also known to have tones.
