A former town in Chiisagata County, bordering Ueda City in the northeastern part of Nagano Prefecture. Formerly known as Sanada-go, the town was named after the Sanada clan. Highland vegetables, fruit trees, and flowers (persimmons) are produced here. Sugadaira is located here. In March 2006, it was incorporated into Ueda City along with Maruko Town and Takeshi Village in Chiisagata County. Area 181.90 km2 . Population 11,811 (2003).
