A town in Kasuya County in central Fukuoka Prefecture. The main settlement, Sasaguri, is a former post town on the road linking Fukuoka and Iizuka, and the Sasaguri Line runs through the town. It is home to one of the 88 Shin Shikoku temples, and the pilgrimage route is very picturesque, attracting many pilgrims. Seto was once a coal mining area in the Kasuya coalfields. 福岡県中部,粕屋(かすや)郡の町。主集落篠栗は福岡と飯塚を結ぶ街道の旧宿場町で,篠栗線が通じる。新四国八十八ヵ所の札所があり,巡拝路は景勝にすぐれ参拝客が多い。勢門(せと)はかつての粕屋炭田の炭鉱地。シイタケ,タケノコを特産。38.93km2。3万1318人(2010)。
