A town in Hanishina County in central Nagano Prefecture. Sakaki, the main settlement along the Chikuma River, developed as a post town on the Hokkoku Kaido road, and is served by the third-sector Shinano Railway. Machinery and metal industries are thriving here. Apples, grapes, and roses are also cultivated here. Area: 53.64 km2 .
