Born December 10, 1869. Made his debut in 1891 with Kawakami Otojiro's troupe. Formed the Seibi-dan with Kitamura Rokuro and Takada Minoru at the Kado-za in Osaka. Joined Kawai Takeo's public theater company in 1913. Later became active in the Kansai Shinpa school. Died July 26, 1943. Age 75. Born in Echigo (Niigata Prefecture). Real name was Nishimaki Kozo.
