A mountain in the western part of Kiyono, Matsushiro-cho, Nagano City. It is located at the tip of the mountain range that continues from Kurabone Castle, and Kaizu Castle can be seen to the north, and Kawanakajima across the Chikuma River to the west. It is 546m above sea level. It is also written as Saijoyama. In August 1561 (4th year of the Eiroku era), Uesugi Masatora (Kenshin) climbed Saijoyama to assess the attack on Kaizu Castle, where Takeda Shingen was based. In September, Shingen led 8,000 troops across Kawanakajima and sent 12,000 troops to Saijoyama, but Kenshin crossed the Chikuma River and attacked the Takeda forces at Kawanakajima. 長野市松代(まつしろ)町清野(きよの)の西部にある山。鞍骨(くらぼね)城から続く山系の突端に位置し,北には海津(かいづ)城,西には千曲(ちくま)川の彼方に川中島(かわなかじま)が望める。標高546m。西条山とも記される。永禄4年(1561年)8月,上杉政虎(謙信)は西条山に登って武田信玄の拠る海津城攻略の評定をしている。9月信玄は8000の軍勢を率いて川中島に渡り,1万2000の軍勢を西条山へ向かわせたが,謙信は千曲川を渡り川中島の武田軍を攻撃した。妻女山には二つの郭からなる簡単な構えがみえる。→川中島の戦
