Saigawa [town] - Saigawa
A former town in Miyako County, eastern Fukuoka Prefecture. It spreads across the mountainous region north of Mt. Hiko and the basin along the Imagawa River. Agriculture and forestry are the main industries, producing rice, wheat, soybeans, etc., and greenhouse cultivation is also popular. High-quality timber such as cedar and cypress is also produced. The main settlement, Honjo, is on the Heisei Chikuho Railway Tagawa Line, and many people commute to Tagawa City and Kitakyushu City. In March 2006, it merged with Katsuyama Town and Toyotsu Town in Kyoto County to become Miyako Town in Kyoto County. 98.00 km2 . 7,744 people (2003).
