A common name for Arabian American Oil Co. The world's largest oil company, owning vast oil fields in Saudi Arabia. It began in 1933 when it was founded as California Arabian Standard Oil Co. by the American oil major Standard Oil of California (commonly known as Socal). アラビアン･アメリカン･オイル社Arabian American Oil Co.の通称。サウジアラビアに広大な鉱区を所有する世界最大の産油会社。1933年，アメリカの石油メジャーであるスタンダード･オイル･オブ･カリフォルニア社(通称ソーカル)がカリフォルニア･アラビアン･スタンダード･オイル社California Arabian Standard Oil Co.として設立したことに始まる(なお，ソーカルは1936年テキサコ社に利権の半分を与えて共同でカルテックス社Caltex Petroleumを設立)。
