ARAMCO
A common name for Arabian American Oil Co. The world's largest oil company, owning vast oil fields in Saudi Arabia. It began in 1933 when it was founded as California Arabian Standard Oil Co. by the American oil major Standard Oil of California (commonly known as Socal). (In 1936, Socal gave half of the interest to Texaco and jointly established Caltex Petroleum.)
