Also written as 'jashin', 'bōshin', or 'akushin'. These are gods who do not obey the gods of Takamagahara and do not belong to Takamagahara. In the section on the descent of the grandson of the heavens in the Kamiyomaki chapter of the Kojiki, it says, "I believe that in this country there are many gods whose ways are violent and whose ways are rough." The evil gods described in the Kamiyomaki chapter of the Nihon Shoki as "gods whose lights shine brightly with fireflies" and the god of Mt. Ibuki in Omi, conquered by Yamato Takeru no Mikoto, are also of this type. They also refer to violent gods who are considered to bring disaster and suffering to people's lives because of their evil nature. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
