At the Ternifine site in Algeria, early human bones were found to accompany the Acheulean culture, proto-humans being the bearers of the culture. More recently, fragments of early human skulls were found to accompany the Acheulean culture in the Somme River basin in northern France, a classic area for the study of this culture.
