Year of death: May 4, 1259 (May 27, 1259) Year of birth: Jogen 4.5.4 (1210.5.28) A nobleman in the Kamakura period. Son of the regent and chancellor Iezane and the daughter of Fujiwara no Suesada. After serving as provisional Chunagon, Naidaijin, and Udaijin, he became Sadaijin in 1235. Kujo Michiie, who wielded great influence in the Imperial Court at the time, sought reconciliation with the Konoe family, and in 1233 he married his daughter, Yoshiko, to Kanetsune and handed over the regent position to him. In January 1242 (Ninji 3), he became chancellor, but resigned when Emperor Gosaga ascended to the throne. In 1246 (Kangen 4), a plot by former shogun Kujo Yoritsune was discovered, and the Kujo family was overthrown, and the following year he became regent again. In 1252 (Kencho 4), he handed over the regent position to his younger brother Kanehira. He also divided Takatsukasa-dai and other assets, and his descendants became the Takatsukasa family. In his later years, he lived in Okayadono in Uji, and was called "Okayadono."
