Children's Association - Kodomokai

Japanese: 子ども会 - こどもかい

A local children's organization of mixed ages developed by parents and residents to ensure the enrichment of children's local life and their rich growth and development through voluntary group activities such as healthy entertainment, play, recreation, sports, cultural activities, learning, creativity, and community service. It is similar to a "Youth Corps," but has more diversity in terms of the organization's target, purpose, content, form, and training body, and is characterized by its comprehensive regional character. The original form of the children's association can be seen in the traditional children's groups such as the children's group and children's group in the village community in the past.

健全な娯楽や遊び，レクリエーション，スポーツ，文化活動，学習，創作，社会奉仕などの自主的集団活動をとおして，子どもの地域生活の充実と豊かな成長･発達を保障するために，父母･住民によって育成された異年齢の地域子ども組織。〈少年団〉と類似しているが，組織の対象，目的，内容，形態，育成主体の諸点においてより多様性をもち，地域網羅的性格に特色をもつ。子ども会の原形は，古くは村落共同体の子供組や子供衆などの慣習的な子ども集団の中にみることができる。
