Japanese: 御所浦[町] - ごしょうら

A former town in Amakusa County, Kumamoto Prefecture, consisting of small islands such as Goshoura Island, Makishima Island, and Yokoura Island in the Amakusa Islands. Also called "Goshonoura". Most of the islands are hilly, and the towns are engaged in purse net fishing, line fishing, pearl farming, and cultivation of citrus fruits such as sweet oranges. In March 2006, it merged with Hondo City, Ushibuka City, and the towns of Ariake, Kuratake, Sumomoto, Shinwa, Gowa, Amakusa, and Kawaura in Amakusa County to become a city. 20.14 ^km2 . 4,315 people (2003).

熊本県天草郡，天草諸島中の御所浦島，牧島，横浦島などの小島からなる旧町。〈ごしょのうら〉とも。大部分は丘陵性の島で，巾着(きんちゃく)網・一本釣漁，真珠養殖などを営み，甘夏ミカンなど柑橘(かんきつ)類の栽培も行う。2006年３月，本渡市，牛深市，天草郡有明町，倉岳町，栖本町，新和町，五和町，天草町，河浦町と合併し市制，天草市となる。20.14km²。4315人（2003）。
