Kokubu Seigai

Japanese: 国分青厓 - こくぶ せいがい
Kokubu Seigai
1857-1944 A Chinese poet from the Meiji to early Showa period.
Born on May 5, 1859. In 1889 he joined the Nihon Shimbunsha newspaper company and was in charge of the "Hyorin" column, where he became renowned for satirizing current affairs through Chinese poetry. In 1920 he formed the Seisha company with Mori Kainan and others. In 1923 he became a professor at Daito Bunka Gakuin. In 1937 he became a member of the Academy of Arts. He passed away on March 5, 1944, at the age of 88. He was from Sendai in Mutsu. He dropped out of the Ministry of Justice Law School. His given name was Takatane and his pen name was Shibi. His other pen names included Taihaku Sanjin and others. His work includes "Shitouko."

安政4年5月5日生まれ。明治22年日本新聞社にはいって「評林」欄を担当,漢詩で時局を風刺し,評判となる。23年森槐南(かいなん)らと星社を結成。大正12年大東文化学院教授。昭和12年芸術院会員。昭和19年3月5日死去。88歳。陸奥(むつ)仙台出身。司法省法学校中退。名は高胤(たかたね)。字(あざな)は子美(しび)。別号に太白山人など。著作に「詩董狐(しとうこ)」。
