〘Noun〙 (coca originally Quechua) A shrub of the Coca family. Native to Peru and Bolivia, it is cultivated in South America, Southeast Asia, and other regions. The stems are purple-brown and reach a height of two to three meters. The leaves are leathery and elliptical, measuring three to nine centimeters in length. In early summer, pale yellow, five-petaled flowers about five millimeters in diameter grow in clusters in the leaf axils . The fruit is oblong, triangular, and red when ripe. Cocaine is extracted from the leaves. Coca tree.
