Xingqing Palace

Japanese: 興慶宮 - こうけいきゅう
Xingqing Palace
A palace in the Tang Dynasty, China. Located in the southern part of the three major palaces of Chang'an City. The residence of Longqingfang was renamed Xingqing Palace in the second year of the Kaiyuan era under Emperor Xuanzong (714), and the name of the palace was changed. In 726, it was expanded by taking half of the Yongjia and Shengye palaces, and became a political center after 728. A survey in 1958 revealed that it was 1,080m east to west and 1,250m north to south. The famous Huaguo Xianghui Building and the Main Building for Government Affairs were located in the southwest corner, but excavations revealed that the latter was connected to the inner wall of the double southern wall, measuring 26.5m east to west and 19m north to south, and the former was found to have been located on the western wall before the expansion in 726.
