...A disease characterized by goiter, exophthalmos, and tachycardia, reported in 1840 by German physician Kavon Basedow. The same disease was reported independently by Italian Giuseppe Flaiani (1741-1808) in 1800, British Caleb H. Parry (1755-1822) in 1825 (posthumously), and Irish Robert J. Graves (1797-1853) in 1835. Depending on the country, it was called Flaiani's disease or Parry's disease, but the international name for the disease is Graves' disease today. In Japan, German medicine was mainstream, so Basedow's disease is still used as the diagnosis. ...

…ドイツの医師K.A.vonバゼドーにより1840年に報告された甲状腺腫，眼球突出および頻脈を特徴とする疾患。同一の疾患は，1800年にイタリアのフライアーニGiuseppe Flaiani(1741‐1808)が，25年にはイギリスのパリーCaleb H.Parry(1755‐1822)が(死後発表)，また35年にはアイルランドのグレーブズRobert J.Graves(1797‐1853)が，それぞれ独立に発表しており，国によってフライアーニ病とかパリー病とか呼んでいたが，現在国際的にはグレーブス病が病名として用いられている。日本ではドイツ医学が主流であったため，現在でもバセドー病が診断名として用いられている。…
