Aviation logbook - kokuunisshi (English) log book

A logbook in which necessary information is recorded when an aircraft is flown or when maintenance or modifications are performed. It is one of the documents that aircraft users are required to keep by the Aviation Act, and an aircraft cannot be flown without an aviation logbook.

There are four types of logbooks: (1) onboard logbooks, (2) ground-based engine logbooks, (3) ground-based propeller logbooks, and (4) glider logbooks. For jet aircraft, only (1) and (2) are required. The onboard logbooks to be kept on aircraft include the aircraft's nationality, registration mark, registration number, date of registration, aircraft type, model, type certificate number, airworthiness category, airworthiness certificate number, aircraft manufacturer, serial number, date of manufacture, engine and propeller models, flight records, total flight hours since manufacture and total flight hours since the most recent overhaul, engine and propeller replacement records, and records of repairs, modifications, or maintenance. The ground-based engine logbooks to be kept include the engine model, manufacturer, serial number, date of manufacture, replacement records, repairs, modifications, or maintenance records, and engine use records.

航空機が飛行したとき、または整備、改造などを行った場合などに必要事項を記載する日誌。航空機の使用者が備え付けることを航空法で義務づけられている書類の一つで、航空日誌がなければ航空機を飛行させることはできない。

　航空日誌には、(1)搭載用航空日誌、(2)地上備え付け用発動機航空日誌、(3)地上備え付け用プロペラ航空日誌、(4)滑空機用航空日誌の4種類がある。ジェット機の場合は(1)と(2)だけが必要とされる。航空機に搭載される搭載用航空日誌に記載される内容は、航空機の国籍、登録記号、登録番号、登録年月日、航空機の種類、型(かた)式、型式証明書番号、耐空類別、耐空証明書番号、航空機の製造者、製造番号、製造年月日、発動機およびプロペラの型式、航行に関する記録、製造後の総航行時間および最近のオーバーホール後の総航行時間、発動機およびプロペラの装備換えに関する記録、修理・改造または整備の実施に関する記録である。地上備え付け用発動機航空日誌に記載される内容は、発動機の型式、製造者、製造番号、製造年月日、装備換えに関する記録、修理・改造または整備の実施に関する記録、発動機の使用に関する記録である。
