Kent paper

Drawing paper first produced in the Kent region of England. It is pure white and hard, and is primarily used for drafting. In Japan, it is also used for business cards and calendars. Chemical pulp is generally used as the main ingredient, but high-quality paper is made from cotton pulp refined from cotton rags, and is given a surface size (a glue-like liquid is applied) to create a rough finish.

イギリスのケント地方で初めて製造された画用紙。純白で紙質は硬く、おもに製図用にする。わが国では名刺、カレンダーにも用いる。一般には主原料として化学パルプを用いるが、高級品は、綿ぼろを精製した綿パルプを用いて抄造し、表面サイズ（膠(にかわ)状の液を塗布する）を施して粗面に仕上げる。
