Construction pollution

According to the Basic Law for Environmental Pollution Control, the three most typical types of pollution that occur during construction activities are noise, vibration, and subsidence. However, the causes of pollution disputes associated with construction work are not limited to these three types of pollution, but also include damage that has occurred or is likely to occur over a wide area related to human health or the living environment that occurs during construction work. There are two types of construction pollution: that caused by buildings and that caused by the construction work itself. The former includes obstruction of sunlight, a feeling of oppression, obstruction of views, wind damage, and radio interference caused by high-rise buildings, as well as noise, vibration, and exhaust fumes caused by roads and parking facilities, and, depending on the use of the building, road traffic obstruction, water supply and drainage problems, and water and air pollution.

建設活動に伴って発生する公害は，公害対策基本法によれば，騒音，振動，地盤沈下の三つを典型としている。しかし建設工事に伴う公害紛争の原因には，これら3種の公害に限らず，建設活動に伴って生ずる相当範囲にわたる人の健康または生活環境にかかわる被害の発生したもの，あるいは発生の可能性があるものも含まれる。建設公害には建築物によって発生するものとその建設工事から生ずるものの二つがある。前者には高層建築物による日照阻害，圧迫感，眺望阻害，風害，電波障害，また道路，駐車場施設などによる騒音，振動，排気ガス，さらに建物の用途によっては道路交通障害，給排水障害，水質･大気汚染などがある。
