This refers to the thickness of the cocoon thread. The unit of measurement is denier (abbreviated as d). The outer layer of the cocoon is the thickest, and the thickness decreases in the order of the middle and inner layers, but the cocoon thread fineness usually indicates the average value. This value is calculated from the length of raw silk obtained by reeling a certain amount of cocoons, the amount of raw silk, and the average number of grains. The fineness of cocoon thread varies depending on the silkworm variety, silkworm season, and rearing conditions, but the thickness of cocoon thread produced by silkworms currently commonly reared is often 2.5 to 3.5 d. Looking at the different varieties, Japanese species are thicker and Chinese species are thinner. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
単位はデニールdenier(略符号d)を用いる。
