Kisuke Shimizu

[Born] Bunka 12 (1815). Toyama
Died August 9, 1881. Tokyo construction company. Former founder of the current Shimizu Corporation. Born in Inami, Etchu, as the son of carpenter Seihachi. Former name Fujisawa Seishichi. Married the eldest daughter of the first Kisuke, and became the second generation. He worked on many Western-style buildings, including the Tsukiji Hotel (1868), Mitsui House (later the First National Bank, 1872), Exchange Bank Mitsui (1874), and the Shibusawa Eiichi House in Fukagawa (1877). He had close ties with the Mitsui and Shibusawa Eiichi, and built the foundation for a modern construction company.

建設業者。現在の清水建設の祖。越中の井波に大工清八の息子として生れる。旧名藤沢清七。初代喜助の長女と結婚，2代目となる。数多くの擬洋風建築を手がけ，築地ホテル館 (1868) ，三井組ハウス (のちの第一国立銀行，72) ，為替バンク三井組 (74) ，深川の渋沢栄一邸 (77) などを完成。三井組，渋沢栄一と密接な関係をもち，近代的建設会社への基礎を築いた。
