Japanese: 剣先船 - けんさきぶね

During the Edo period, these river boats were used for water transport along the Yamato River in Kawachi Province. They were named after the shape of the boats, with their pointed prows, and there were four types: Kokensaki-bune (old boat), Shinkensaki-bune (new boat), Ijikawa Kensaki-bune (Ijikawa boat), and Zaigo Kensaki-bune (zai-bune). The Kosen and Shinsen were used to earn freight throughout the entire river system, while Zai-bune and Ijikawa-bune were used to transport rice as tax and to earn freight for villagers' luggage. In the mid-Edo period, there were a total of 489 boats: 211 old boats, 100 new boats, 78 zai-bune, and 100 Ijikawa-bune.

江戸時代，河内国大和(やまと)川水系の水運に従事した川船。名称は船首がとがった船の形からつけられ，古剣先船（古船）・新剣先船（新船）・井路川(いじかわ)剣先船（井路川船）・在郷剣先船（在船）の４種があった。古船と新船は水系全体に広く賃積稼ぎを営み，在船と井路川船は年貢米の輸送や村方荷物の賃積稼ぎに従事していた。江戸中期の船数は古船211，新船100，在船78，井路川船100の計489艘。
