…From the late 1940s to the 1960s, the Hassna site was famous as the oldest agricultural village site in the region, but many materials from a period parallel to the lowest Ia period, for which only fragmentary materials were available, were excavated here. The site is 100m x 85m, and the cultural layer is about 4m thick. It was excavated four times in total between 1971 and 1974, led by D. Kirkbride. It is divided into four layers, all of which can be placed before the Hassna culture, so the names Pre-Hassna culture, Umm Dabaghiya culture, and Sarasat culture, identified in the excavation of Tell Sarasat, have been proposed. …
